DB/2 and Visual Studio 2005

I just found this as I was searching for some database info.  Apparently IBM has released some DB/2 addins that run in Visual Studio 2005.  Here is some info from the site:

The "IBM Database add-ins for Visual Studio 2005" includes:

  • Support for DB2 data servers and the upcoming DB2 Viper data server
  • New IBM DB2 Data Provider for .NET Framework 2.0
  • Enhanced Visual Studio 2005 integration
    • Server Explorer integration to simplify access to DB2 during development
    • Integrated debugger for DB2 SQL PL (SQL Procedure Language)
  • New set of designers for DB2 database objects including: tables, views, procedures, indexes, etc.
  • New support for the DB2 Viper pure XML

Usage Notes:

  • Support for "IBM Database add-ins for Visual Studio 2005" will be provided via the DB2 with .NET forum
IBM has released an article on creating database objects in DB/2 Viper.  It is impressive that they are supporting .NET in the database.

IBM has an older document about writing CLR objects with DB/2 8.2 (aka Stinger).
