Installing Data Migration Manager (DMM) 4.0 ‘The path is not of a legal form’ error message

Hi,

I came up with this error while trying to install DMM:  "The path is not of a legal form"

After some research I could find the solution, not sure yet about the cause (if it were because I was installing it on same server as Dynamics CRM server or because it was Windows Server 2008 or whatever) … anyway, quick solution is:

1. Open registry (regedit.exe)

2. Search for display name “Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server”’

   Key should be something like ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\…’

3. Modify key ‘InstallLocation’

4. Set value to: “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM”

5. Re-run DMM setup. It should work like a charm now :)
