Publication (web): Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I experienced today the annoying “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” when trying to publish a site with Visual Studio 2010. It also happened the same trying with VS 2008 (as my app is in frmk 3.5 I could try with that).

The specific error was:

Pre-compiling Web Site

/: Publication (web): Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I researched on the net and tried different tips posted by some people. Unfortunately nothing seemed to work.

Finally I could find ‘the problem’ or better said, the ‘workaround’:

I deleted the whole content of my BIN directory and tried publishing again. After that, it worked like a charm J.

I hope this tip could save time to someone else.
