More InfoPath

Infopath is a great developer tool and client tool for web services. The equivalent tool from Altova is free. Why not make Infopath a standalone tool, free Office addin or package it with Visual Studio ? As a developer I want to use Infopath, why limit it to big customers ? This seems ridiculous to me.

As Don said: "It's important to note (as James Snell does) that InfoPath was developed by the Office team for the Office customer. "

Poor Microsoft takes crap for not giving anyone a reason to upgrade their copy of Office, and they take crap for creating a new app so people will want to upgrade their copy of Office.

Edit: I'm retarded.  Next time I'll read the actual article instead of having a knee-jerk reaction.  Why is InfoPath being limited to big customers?

  • Hi,

the point I was trying to make is that if this article is correct then Microsoft have developed an application that could help sell Office and then limit it to large customers. What about the non corporate purchasers of Office ? What about the developer who is not an MSDN subscriber how do they get hold of Infopath. I want Microsoft to distribute Infopath and not limit it to the corporates.
