SYS-CON Media Readers Choice Awards

These are the total number of votes for all of their magazines:

.NET : 2638

Java : 13784

ColdFusion : 2760

WebServices : 5484

LinuxWorld  : 796

The .NET vs Java difference is really big, and it probably means something ;). At least it puts some recent claims about .NET vs Java adoption in doubt.

  • I don't see how it puts any claims in doubt. I mean, all statistics have to be taken with a grain of salt because everyone knows that there are many variables in any study.

I don't read .NET Developers Journal and I can say that none of the 20 other developers I've worked in the past year read it either.

How many subscribers does the DNJ have in comparison to its Java counterpart? How long has the Java magazine been round in comparison to the .NET magazine?

I would not use the #s from that vote as my basis for .NET vs Java adoption. Your mileage may vary.

  • OK, I agree.

Anyway, you did not need to be a subscriber to vote, anyone could do it, and all the nominated tools were pushing their customers to vote.
