My presentation at TechEd

It does look not very good to blog about my own presentation, but someone has to do it ;). I'm getting used to it ;).

I arrived to the room 10 minutes before the presentation and Richard Turner from the MS Indigo team was talking about WebServices & Versioning. His last slide had the following content:

Database Versioning:

  • This is VERY hard to do
  • Usually involves a data manipulation and migration process
  • Requires EXTENSIVE testing

(and my favorite one)

  • Avoid if possible through careful DB design at the outset.

As DeKlarit was built to deal with this problem, I had to ask him permission to show his slide in my presentation ;).

It was a lunch-time session, the ones that are usually made by partners, so I did not expect a lot of people in the room, but there were about 300 hundred people, which was much more than I expected.

It was a 45' min session. Mike Culver from Microsoft wanted to introduce me, then it was my turn. Everything worked OK, but I finished 7 minutes earlier, so I guess I forgot Richard's advices ;). A lot of people came to talk to me at the end of the session and then in the booth, so I was quite happy with it.

It was my first TechEd presentation, so I really was proud of my blue speaker shirt ;).

  • Andres, cherish that shirt-- you had to work hard to earn it! I'm happy to say that the blue shirt from this year is my seventh speaker or staff shirt, so visualize starting your own collection :)
