Scrubbing a DotNetNuke Database for user info and passwords
If you’ve ever needed to send a backup of your DotNetNuke database to a developer for testing, you likely trust the developer enough to do so without scrubbing your data, but just to be safe it is probably best that you do take the time to scrub.

DotNetNuke Documentation
One of the biggest complaints about DotNetNuke, is, and always has been, the lack of documentation. I’ve been trying to help correct that problem for a while now. A year ago I started writing a book that was Published in June, DotNetNuke 5: A User’s Guide, I think it turned out to be a good resource for people looking to learn how to setup and use DNN to build a website.

Denver DotNetNuke User Group, getting the ball rolling
So it's finally time to get this ball rolling. I've been in the Denver area for just over three weeks now, and am getting things moving with the goal of having the first official Denver DNN User Group meeting in October 2009. I'm currently looking for interested attendees, and also for anyone who might be interested in helping to manage things.

DotNetNuke Training, now available on DVD
Back in January of this year I took a trip out to Connecticut and spent a week recording some of our DotNetNuke Training on DVD with none other than Carl Franklin of .NET Rocks fame. It was a fun week, Carl has an amazing studio going out there. What came of it is a two volume DVD collection.

New DotNetNuke Training Webinars
Early last year we at Engage started putting together our training materials for DotNetNuke. We’ve been delivering DNN training for almost 5 years now, but had always done it customized for individual clients, starting in 2008 we began offering Classroom training here in St. Louis. We’ve had a good turnout of attendees for our classroom training, mostly from the United States, but a few from Canada. We’ve had a number of inquiries over the years about training outside of the states. Training has given me the opportunity to travel to far off places, which is definitely fun, but for some individuals and companies having one of our trainers fly to their office, or sending someone to St. Louis, Missouri for training is just too expensive.

INETA Community Champs Program, I’m a winner!
After seeing so many of my DNN brethren take home awards from INETA for Q3 2008 I must say I was a little jealous. Well guess who’s an INETA Community Champion Award Winner for Q4 2008! I’ve not been quite as active over the past month with the holidays and writing the book, but I am wrapping back up my community efforts as we speak. There are some new exciting things coming down the pipe relating to DotNetNuke so stay tuned in 2009!

The Adventures of VMWare, Windows 7, Web Platform Installer, SQL Server 2008 Express, IIS 7 and installing DNN, otherwise known as HELL
So I had this bright idea, I'd setup VMWare on my desktop here at home and start playing with Windows 7, then I thought I would get a DNN website up and running in Windows 7, and record the whole thing with Camtasia. 24 hours later I've given up and am ready to go into manual labor! :)

Is your DNN Portal Healthy? Get a checkup with the Engage: Dashboard Module
Has your DotNetNuke site had a checkup lately? Do you know how big your database is? Do you know how big your database is? How many records are in your event log? site log? What about the last time it was backed up? Have you looked to see how many of your pages don't have Descriptions or Keywords defined?
