It's funny how blog's work...

Tonight I read Duncan's latest blog about using what you write. I can really relate to that as I've started to do it quite a bit myself lately. First, I built a tool that I use at least once a day to test regex's with ( Get regexSnippets ), then, I built a Windows application with a Jukebox-like interface so that I could view all of my rip'ped CD's and easily switch between Albums and Tracks.

You really do get a great feeling when you start using and relying on your own software :-)

After reading Duncan's blog entry I noticed a 'Related Reading' entry for Erik Porters (aka Human Compiler) blog. I clicked over to that and read what Erik had to say and it was very interesting. I firmly believe that once we work out the semantics of personal information storage some truly amazing applications will be developed - all I hope is that I'm in the front line when they are looking for developers to help build them ;-)

  • Ooooh. I like regexSnippets. Very nice. :)

I use regexes all the time...so it's really nice to see tools like this come out. I also use Eric Gunnerson's RegexWorkbench and Chris Sells' RegexDesigner. There's another on CodeProject that I found useful called Expresso.

What's funny is that these tools all pretty much do the same thing...but each has it's own litle feature that makes me use it when I need that one feature. Yours is now the "favorites" feature which I predict will come in handy. Thanks! :)
