TechEd Secret #3: Party Time!
TechEd Secret #3
How to go to all those parties
A TechEd alumni know that each evening, there are numerous parties. Well, don't get too excited, after all, these are geek parties organized by the product teams or the exibitors. So it's a bunch of developers or sys admin getting together enjoying free food and free beer. But like Homer says so well: free beer, hummmmmmm. Beside of free beer, they usually hand out free T-Shirts with something like this printed out in the back: I was at the <INSERT NAME HERE> party. So you walk around the convention center and each day, you see people wearing these T-Shirts and each day, you see new T-Shirts like that poping out. For you, these T-Shirts are only a statement on how many parties you missed and how low in the food chain you are if you're never invited to them. People wearing the T-Shirts know that and they enjoy torturing you.
So how do you get invited? Check the agenda, the exibitors' booths, check the TechEd information desk and so on. You will surely find a couple of invite only parties and you'll be able to nag the other attendees with your exclusive party T-Shirts.
