Thinkpad Notebook Fan Controller

If you own a Thinkpad Notebook you probably aware of the cooling fan noise annoyances, if you suffer from the noise and want to have a quiet life and gain control of the fan speed take a look at the Thinkpad Fan Controller.

The Thinkpad Fan Controller allows the user to control fan activity based on the system temperature (or manual of course...)

This Visual C++ project controls the fan via port IO to the embedded controller.

p.s. though it was build for the T4x series... its working great on my T60p.

The controller is not working under Windows Vista. Is there any controller for the Vista version?

What is your thinkpad model type ?

I tried this on my T30 and it displays the temp, etc. but i cant change the settings, anyone know of a program that will work with a T30

i have a t60p running vista that the GUI isn't running under...even in compatibility mode.

any ideas

I am testing this on my thinkpad R40, it works in all modes however the fan still always pulses on and off instead of staying on for an extended period. The display reports back correctly that the fan is working in all modes.

I am running WIN XP pro, not in compatibility mode, latest updates/hotfixes.

I think my fan speed controller is shot anyway.. so this program is the only way I can get the fan to work >.<

I am using Thinkpad R40 and thanks to this smart program. I used to curse that my laptop gets hot and cant use it on my lap. Ever since I installed it, I feel it cool! Good job guys

looks like it working very well for me, its actually making my fan work finally. Lowered the temp signifigantly. My model is an IBM T30. :)

Nice. Thanks dude! Works perfectly on my IBM T30. The BUS, PCI, PWR and XC3 temps all read 0degC - I guess the T30 has fewer sensors.

It works well under Vista, you just have to turn the User Account Control off... or rather.. by me that was the problem

Works on T60p running XP sp2. My laptop was consistently running at 70+ degrees Celcius, but is now averaging less than 60!

I use a Thinkpad T60p with Windows 7 Build 7201 and it works fine.
