FireFox doesn't refresh right

Has anyone else noticed that FireFox doesn't always refresh as it should? I'm talking about the meta tag refresh. There are a couple of sites I visit that use these tags to refresh after a login, as does my Trillian "Check Hotmail" link. In these cases, you have to view the source of the page and paste it in to make the refresh happen.

I've been seeing this since the beta days, so I'm surprised it's still a problem.

  • It's already known:

The problem happens if WYSIWYG editing has ever been turned on in that browser window or tab. Workaround is to open a new window or tab and close the original (every time you use anything with a WYSIWYG editor in it).

The bug drives me crazy too and I hate that it wasn't fixed for 1.0. I guess they underestimate how many people are using WYSIWYG editing.

  • Did you ever find a fix for this? I'm getting the same problem and it's driving me nuts. -ed.

  • I'm running v2.0.0.13 on Mac and I still have this issue. redirects or refresh do not seem to work. Is there a patch or plugin I need to install?

    Thank you.

  • Just had this start happening to me and I'm running the latest FF (2.0.0.14 on Mac)... I turned off all my add-ons and found that Web Developer was doing it. Kept it off and now I'm fine. minus web-dev :-(

So I would say turn off your add-ons and see if one of those is causing it.

  • Web Developer? Next time, go into the Disable menu of your Web Developer toolbar and deselect Disable Meta Redirects. Sorry for the smart-alec answer, but it might actually be the reason. :)

  • Jonathon VS's comment was the exact solution to my problem :)
