Please... I beg of you... if you give talks or do video recordings demoing programmer stuff, stop saying, "I'm gonna go ahead and..."

I don't know how it happened, but you may recall that it's a joke from the movie Office Space. For several years though, code monkeys at all levels have been saying it and using it as a vocal crutch in their presentations. It's horribly distracting. All I can think of is Bill Lumburgh.

Please, stop the madness!

Brilliant! Next, see what you can do about how they start every OTHER sentence with "So...".

I swear, every geek talk begins with "So..."

Man! I'm glad it's not just me! I've actually turned off web casts mid way because of over use of that-- it really grates me!

Next time, count the "go aheads" in the video. Then edit out everything but the "go aheads" and send it to them.

This happens a lot on tutorial videos on YouTube. I try to remain calm and try to extract the information, but some are so bad, they use it as a preface to every action they take, and I have to leave a nasty comment.
It is so distracting and annoying it really has become a big peeve of mine.
