It looks like your ordinary DVD player... but it is far from it:
As any college student can tell you, DivX is primarily used for ripping DVDs and distributing them via Kazaa... (Some of you might be familiar with DivX players in their previous form, which were a complete flop. But, these DivX players have nothing in common with the old ones, other than the name). I don't really see much legal use for this (which is probably why none of the big guys are making these yet), but this little box's internet integration is very cool. Not only does it let you listen to web radio and stream movies live (admittedly, doing a google search for places that rent streaming DivX movies didn't turn up any useful results), but it also automatically updates its firmware via the internet connection, which means that you get new features / fixes as soon as they are available (perhaps, one day you will wake up and windows media support will be installed on your box as well). |
