Google Talk Not Talking

So it's been a month or so since I said Google talk was a bit too crappy to get people to switch over. I've had it running in my toolbar since the day it was released. Since day two: I have received zero IMs, I have received zero invitations, I have heard nothing about it.

Just out of curiousity does anyone have a different story?

  • I never even installed it so...that's why you're not getting anything from me! hahaha. Who needs "Google Talk" anyway. Yahoo, MSN, and AIM are the trifecta for me. And Skype and Teamspeak are all I'll ever need for VOIP audio. Google Talk = too little too late, IMHO.

  • Same here -- I get absolutely no traffic on my googletalk client because it's just not very good. And the UI looks like it was a project for a 7th-grade computer class. Weak.

  • We've got Skype, don't we?

  • I just used it to chat with my girlfriend.

The UI is so easy but I like it.

I always use MSN, but just for type word.

If I wanna talk with somebody,

    I choose Skype, it's coooooool

  • My mom wanted me to download it so we could chat. I told her I mostly use MSN for work and she went "Oh, I'm on that too. Let me add you to my contacts."

And that was the end of google talk for her.

  • I get some Google Talk traffic - maybe 5% of my IMs. UI is irrelevant to me since I run everything through Miranda anyhow (and I can't abide all the crap that Yahoo and MSN have piled on their UIs). I could easily live without it, but it doesn't cost me anything to add it as one more transport going to the same place, so why not?
