Flash 8 File Format Specs

Well, like usual Macromedia (er.... Adobe)  is really lagging on getting the specs out. From what I understand, Macromedia was really disorganized in regards to the SWF spec even internally, so it shouldn't be suprising that it takes forever to get this stuff out to everyone else. In the mean time, go visit:

And you can get some info on the current tags. It's a wiki, so feel free to add your own input if you know a bit more or figure out anything that isn't listed.

  • The Flash Player 8 was finalized and publicly released at the end of August, and the 8.5 Player was announced a month later. I'm not sure yet of estimated publication date for either the new 8.0 tags, or whether this will be rolled into the key 8.5 release... I get the sense it's in publishing now, but I haven't researched this in January.



    Let me check in to this today, see if I can get some better info here....
