OpenSource vs. Microsoft: The Marathon Begins

Yet another group warns people to hold off on open source software purchases (or should I say downloads?). There seems to be a trend developing where companies are warning people to abstain from Linux while saying it is OK to embrace Microsoft. Quite the opposite of a year and a half ago. I have to hand it to MS, they are really turning things around.

  • It would be nice if people stopped making the relation that OpenSource equals Linux. Yes, it's true that Linux is open source. But there are many projects that are also open source and have nothing to do with Linux.

  • In most of these cases opensource = linux, because they are concerning fully opensource solutions (Linux, KDE/Gnome, StarOffice, etc.).

  • I sure hope someone shuts down those linux hippies before we have a quality software alternative to Microsoft and... and... well.. who else is left?

  • I thought open source was about sharing quality code so people can learn from others. I guess I'm wrong, and I guess the open source community needs to be bashed with the only tool Microsoft owns, a hammer.
