Weblogs.asp.net - So who's in charge ?

Since more than 2 years I am posting on weblogs.asp.net, and it was until now a great pleasure and the opprtunity to read and exchange with some great guys.

But now a question has to be asked, who's in charge of this blog ? After all Scott Watermasysk did a great job and we have all to say thank you for the .Text tool.

But Scott is now so busy with Telligent and I can see that weblogs.asp.net start to be neglected compare to some other new kids like Codebetter.com.

Don't you think it could be a good idea to get somebody (not me !) to maintain and upgrade this blog ? Spammers are like termites eating all the foundations of the tool we are using to blog, and unless we do something the damages could be permanent.

Changes I would like to see:

- Implementing a Captcha feature
- Implementing the trackback blocker Brian has developed
- Refresh the design of the main aggregator page (yes people are still using a web browser)
- Maybe then thinking about an upgrade to CS.
- Having a multipage aggregator like Coidebetter.com or Engadget in case you miss something important.

  • I was wondering about weblogs.asp.net, too, when comment spammers hit blog posts with closed comments some time ago.

  • I am still here. :)

The first step will be to move this site to community server, but we probably will not do that until 1.2 which should be released late summer/early fall.

Most of what you suggested will be part of CS 1.2 or not necessary thanks to other parts of CS. :)

  • Yes Scott I know you are still there but I just wonder if it's not possible to implement something like Captcha ro block some spam.

I think this is quite urgent now :-)

  • Yeah, and what else is SO ironic, is how they say membership is closed, but I have seen some exceptions and at least one new member added after they stated membership was closed.

  • You need to find a Brendan for Weblogs.asp.net !! :)
