SubText for weblogs.asp.net?

OK just be aware this is just my opinion but since we were promised months ago an evolution of .Text on weblogs.asp.net, I can see clearly that nobody is really in charge and the Community Server 2.0 migration (promised for last January!) is not happening. I am not a big fan of CS for many reasons, bloated code, licence issues, etc...

Now maybe can we all push as a community to use the new SubText, open source version of .Text. The developers behind SubText have promised regular releases and the addition of plug-in. I just recently try SubText and I like it. Light code, new features missing on .Text, and after all same experience so no need to manage something new.

So if you are part of weblogs.asp.net what do you think? Is it not the time to move on with our favourite blog site and make it better?

  • The Community Server migration was promised when CS RTM'd which didn't happen until February 20th. The Community Server migration will happen before the end of the month.

  • So Alex isn't also a democratic way to ask what bloggers who make weblogs.asp.net alive deciding what tool they would like to use ?

  • I'd second to Paschal's idea!

Firstly, Paschal, we have to understand that this community is maintained and run by Telligent (Microsoft pay anyway?), and the platform this community (like Msdn Blog) act as a BIG sample/reference for Telligent itself, so 99.99% Telligent won't change this software.

But anyway, we can 'discuss' under this big assumption: Every citizen in any community (include weblogs.asp.net), we have the rights to vote & *choose* our government. Even visitors/viewers of this community can *choose* the platform. Why the bloggers here under control or even the features/functions are limited by Telligent?

Finally, Paschal raised a very good point and imply that Telligent must dedicate a team to serve this site in order to kill all bad comments, but SubText can also offer a team to do so, too. Any other interested parties (I mean blogging engine in .NET or PHP) are interested in dedicate a team to weblogs.asp.net and own this site too, because all of us realized that this site have unlimited marketing and thus commerical value.

    My 2 cents.

    Thanks

  • so, is there any update about the "voting" of software for all bloggers and viewers on weblogs.asp.net from Telligent? or keep it silent forever?
