Internet Explorer 6.05

In Longhorn Internet Explorer is looking good. Unfortunatly it's not available yet for Windows XP/2003.

Sean send me a link to download a standalone version of IE 6.05.

Note: just be cautious, because it's surely going to crash on some sites, but hey it's pretty cool ;-)

  • Any idea if it supports any of CSS3? Or at least whether it intends to when it is completed (the draft not the browser).

  • I doubt that since IE does not currently supports all the 2nd version of the CSS spec.

  • Paschal,

I think anyone who downloads and installs "pre-beta" Microsoft software from a third party site deserves exactly what they're likely to get. I would strongly caution anyone against downloading and installing this.

  • It's just the basic IE6 code, with a spiffy new skin. It uses bitmaps for it's faky new GUI. It's just cut-n-pasted together. Any noob in college can "make" a "Pre-beta" build of internet explorer. In reality this is only just a demonstator of a concept that may be implemented in to Microsoft's next version of windows.

  • Andrew D's right -- this Beta is very buggy. Installed it on Win XP SP1 and it ran (runs?) fine but I made the mistake of installing the pop-up blocker as well. And c-r-a-s-h when XP. I managed a Restore, but now IE 605 loads and hangs :( And often manages to bring the interface down with it. Definitely *not* somethinbg to play with cos' its definitely missing OS vitals or Longhorn is Windows 2003 with a different UI!

  • To right cookie. Another couple of things:

*The search button links to google

*if it was 6.05 well its a bit of a big change from 6.0.2 which is wat iv got.

*also if its meant to be a new version of internet explorer then why can you not expand the window, pop-up windows, are messed up because thew windows cant be resized, and various menu options dont work

all this and its not even meant to be 6.1 hmmmmmmm i dnt seem to beleive its genuin
