Apple innovation is losing grounds very fast
Apple's hyped event today is a real disappointment! Nothing new there, just few upgrades on the iPod range, maybe a wireless TV box (not really a novelty).
This is the second time in a row this year Steve Jobs create a 'not to miss' event with finally little delivering. Where is the innovation? I know well Apple since 1977 and it's really the first time I feel let down, too much hype and nothing anymore creative.
The 'One more thing' doesn't work anymore, maybe Steve you should find a new gimmick.
My thoughts is that the really big products (iPhone, iPod video) are ready as prototypes but Apple can't really solve the production line issue.
Imagine that a new iPod Video or iPod Phone will sold easily by the millions. I think knowing Jobs temper he might be very frustrated at the moment and all this hype is just to keep the limelight on a breathless company until the real new announcement (probably in January 2007).
Now Microsoft (with the Zune project) and some other big guns are keeping up fast on the iPod success, so it feel like back in the middle of the eighties where the Macintosh became almost an extinct computer.
Wake up Steve!
