What?! Win2k & NT4 Source Code Leaked?

Exclusive: Windows 2000 & Windows NT 4 Source Code Leaks

Anyone else hear anything on this?

Update: By the way, No -- I don't believe this. It's coming from a site with the title "Where unprofessional jounalism looks better."...

  • i don't know if it's true or not, but neowin is a legit news site ... quite often they are the first to report breaking news ...

  • I hope that it's not true, but I trust neowin more than a lot of other sites...

  • The funny thing is, if Windows Code is leaked, it's a security flaw. If Linux posts its source code, it's a security benefit because "so many eyes catch all the security flaws."

How hypocritical (a euphemism for what total BS).

  • Neowin is a very reliable news source, in fact, it is my homepage. I'd trust their news anyday.

Additionally, this is VERY BAD for just about everyone (if the source did leak). Just think of what can happen... the stuff that if it were in a dream, you would wake up screaming :/

  • It was probably stolen as a result of the ANI.1 security hole. Every Windows based security aparatus it totally irrelevant when that particular flaw is eploited. I have to say it, but if someone took that code; Microsoft only has Microsoft to blame.

  • Neowin is NOT a news site. They are a relay site. There is a slight difference. I am not nit-picking here, I am just pointing out something that one of the site owners was forced to point out (again) this week when attacked for relaying a story that someone didn't agree with. 90% of the time, Neowin simply points out stories elsewhere.

[disclaimer: I love Neowin and visit at least twice a day.]

  • It's far from complete, a lot of sources say. CNet reports that the complete sourcetree is 40Gig and this piece is 660MB. I don't believe the source for windows is 40GB, but I do believe it's bigger than 660MB.

It however isn't a hoax, MS has confirmed the leak.
