New Blogs Announcement

I've been expanding my blogging to talk about other aspects of my life. You may have noticed in my news section, I quietly posted links to my new blogs a few weeks ago. While I'm still working on some new templates (namely one that looks like my company website for my corporate blog) I'm going to go ahead and announce that they're out there.

As I ramp up operations for Interscape Technologies again, I'm beginning to assemble a strategy for maintaining my online persona. Though Interscape is a private company, I want people to be able to see it from all aspects. I want people to get to know me, and the people behind the software we write. We're not just going to be another faceless corporation; another software company with sucky support.

To this end, I am nearing completion of the Interscape Blogscape (tm). Extremely similar to the main feed at weblogs.asp.net, we're going to conglomerate all of our company blogs into one main feed, so you can get a near-realtime view of the diferent aspects of the operation. Right now I'm the only one blogging, but we will be adding new blogs as soon as a few schedules free up. At any rate, my corporate blog is available at http://blogs.interscapeusa.com/robert. This is where I will talk about our corporate ideals, thoughts on the future of .NET, software development issues, product rants, etc. I'm not going to censor myself like Scoble has to (someone wanna get a word count on how many times he's said NDA in the last 3 months?)... my firm belief is that, though our competitors might read what we say and attempt to do the same things, we can do it better. And we will do it better.

Also, I want to be able to talk about personal stuff, political stuff, and random coolness that I stumble across on the web. I'm a workaholic by nature... often getting so into what I'm doing that I forget meals. Having a personal blog kinda forces me to get out there and have a personal life. Go figure. Anyways, my personal blog is at http://www.robertmclaws.com/blog. This way I can keep the main .NET feed clean and facism-free (although I'm not a facist.. people just like to call me that because I'm a Republican)

One of my goals is to create another aggregator to bring all of my posts together into one feed. I'm not egotistical enough to think anyone cares about it now, but maybe someday it might be interesting.

Thanks to everyone that takes the time to read what I have to say, discuss and post comments. If I can help just one person do something easier, faster, or cheaper, then my whole day is worthwhile.

This afternoon, I'll be starting to talk in my corporate blog about how we got where we're at, and what we have planned for the next year. The stuff we have coming up has been almost three years in the making.... very tiring work to be sure. We've made a lot of mistakes along the way, but those mistakes have brought forth invaluable lessons. Lessons that I don't intend to keep to myself. And with that, I'm off to bed. Good night, and good luck.

I LOVE to see companies take this attitude! I'm on my way to your corporate site to check out what y'all do... :)

  • Well I'm glad you like that. It was not an easy stance for me to take up. If I have a quique selling point, I usually try to exploit it without letting the competition know how I do it. But I figure, my goal is not just to make software better for my customers, but for everyone. That's why I'm involved in the community and I blog. If I remember that, first and foremost, profits will follow.
