Wanted to take a second
And thank a bunch of people for an absolutely wonderful time last week. It was wonderful to finally get a vacation, and what better place to relax than in beautiful Seattle. It was so much better than Phoenix... I may have to move there someday. First off, thanks to the indefatigable Robert Scoble, for letting me crash at his place. It was definitely a pleasure spending a week with a legend. Second, I'd like to thank Dare Obsanjo, Joshua Allen, Jim Blizzard (man I want his job), Thanks to Mike Sax and Sam Gentile for some very lively conversations at the weblogger dinner. Oh yeah, and Robert Wlodarczyk is a hell of a guy. Had a lot of fun talking to him after security kicked us out of the mall.
It was great spending time with Miljan Braticevic of ASPnetMenu fame. He's a good friend of mine, and a very respected colleague. It was nice to finally get to talk in person. I would also like to thank the folks at Microsoft: Rob Howard, Scott Guthrie, Nikhil Kothari, Simon Calvert, and everyone else who presented. It was a truly awesome experience.
I know I'm missing a ton of other people, and for that I apologize. I met a ton of great people, and it was truly a memorable experience. It was a once-in-a-lifetime thing that I hope happens as often as possible ;-).
I'll have more posts and pictures online as soon as my other weblogs are back up. My SQL server revolted against Windows two days ago, and somehow booted to Linux. Don't ask me how, that much is still under investigation. I must say it is the weirdest thing I have EVER seen. Ah well, I needed to put Windows Server 2003 on that box anyways.
Some other things to look forward to over the next week: Come Hell or high water, GenX.NET launches on Friday, along with my new company website. I'll finally be able to prove that I haven't just been bullshitting about being busy for the past year. I'll also be posting some study guides I've written for the MSF Development Process. These are notes that I've written while studying for my MCSD. Hopefully they will help others too.
Finally, I picked up “Writing Secure Code, Second Edition” at the Microsoft Company Store. It was only $25 (woo hoo!) EVERY DEVELOPER without exception, without question, should read this book. I am a better developer for having done so. You will be too.
