VB.NET = C#.NET in 2K3 and beyond

Addy Santo posts in this entry: "it seems (at least at first glance) that C# programmers are getting lots of new goodies which the VB guys aren't."

Upon closer inspection of this article referenced in his post, I find the following information (all the way at the bottom): "The features discussed here will be available in a future release of the C# compiler. In early 2003, the "Everett" release of Visual Studio .NET will contain a version of C# slightly modified for full ECMA compliance. This version will not include the features discussed here. Microsoft's hope is that these features will be included in the "VS for Yukon" release of Visual Studio, the date for which has not yet been determined."

Addy, you're comparing apples to oranges. Having played with VS.NET 2003 for many months now, I can say that VB.NET and C#.NET are MORE equal in 2K3 than 2K2. VB.NET has significant upgrades to the language, where the Everett upgrades to C# are far fewer. Early & Adopter had an outstanding article on the subject.

If C# is going to support Generics in Yukon, you can bet VB.NET will too. This information is also confirmed thru Early & Adopter here.

Just my 2 cents. Please don't start another language war over this.
