Food for thought

For those of you considering the current war the antethesis of amazement, this might change your mind. NARA (The National Archives Online) says that 58,198 people died in the Vietnam conflict. Granted, that was over 10 years of fighting, but you have to figure that's about 5000 deaths a year. In three weeks of fighting, our military has only lost 80 soldiers, and only 150 have been wounded . I don't know about you, but as a former Air Force cadet, that makes me pretty proud of my countrymen. These guys are well-trained, and are doing their job very well.

While I'm on the subject, anyone that reads this needs to pay attention: Whether you support the war or not, I don't care. You're entitled to your own opinion. What you shouldn't have a choice in is supporting our troops. It is not appropriate to be denouncing the war while someone's brothers and sisters are out there fighting for you. When the war is over, you can go back to making your opinion known. Until then, stick your opinion where the sun don't shine and support our soldiers. I don't see you out there making the sacrifices that they are.

  • Yeah, that is an amazing thing too. Take WWII for example. Berlin was bombed indescriminately, and the whole city was pretty much in ruins when it was all over. We have the cabability of surgically destroying only what we want to (with a relatively small margin of error, usually the Human Factor), while killing as few prople as possible.

And on another note, I wouldn't lend any creedence whatsoever to civillian death estimates by Iraq's DISInformation Minister. The guy said they killed 50 soldiers today, which we know is not accurate. They are exaggerating the numbers to make us look like monsters. I, however, trust our gov't WAY more that I do "Sodamn Insane".
