Knox County School System/Board in Knoxville, TN - Non-Technical

Update: The Knox County School System/Board has announced that they are going to build their new high school in Hardin Valle and not at Dutchtown Rd./Pellisippi Pkwy. http://weblogs.asp.net/wallym/archive/2005/06/02/410146.aspx

FYI. This information was put up based on the article in the Knoxville News Sentinel from Friday January 14, 2005.  Unfortunately, I can't find a copy of that article on their web site now.  I was very upset about the article.  I was protrayed as someone that was unwilling to negotiate.  More accurately, I was someone that was in shock that the site was being considered given the commercial value of the land.  However, once discussions began after the School Board meeting on January 18, 2005, I realized that I was was incorrect on the people that we talked to at the the School Board.    With a dialog going fairly well, I decided to not discuss every small item that might come up and have every twist and turn play out in the public view.

The School Board members and staff are not bad people.  They are people that are trying to do good things.  Unfortunately, the only way to get our message out was through emails and my blogging about this.

I pulled this article based on my choice and under NO pressure from anyone in the Knox County Schools.

  • Hey Wally. great to hear from you. Didn't know you had a blog.

Hope you're well. Hope the school board will listen to you. We were able to save South High from demolition a few years ago, despite their aggressive plans. While your situation is very different, I hope you can open clear lines of communication.

Sounds like a really nice area for residential development.

  • I understand that Ragsdale is seriously considering running for governor, so he isn't too concerned about the county mayor's race. He sincerely believes he is the State GOP's best shot at unseating Bredesen.

  • So, where'd all the property sale info go? And, of course, why?

    Regards.
