Grad Schools

Well I've got accepted to the CS Grad Program at the University of Tennessee and University of Virginia with a full assistantship to both. Now I'm waiting to for a response from Virginia Tech and then I can make a decision of where I want to go.  Assuming I get the accepted and get assistance from Virginia Tech I will be faced with a tough decision.

The decision will be between Virginia Tech and University of Virginia, both have good CS programs.  University of Virginia is higher ranked and has more research that I'm interested in.  But my girl friend, whom I will probably be marrying this summer, is attending Virginia Tech and I would be much easier to go there so we can live together and combine our expenses.

So what am I to do?  Does anyone have any words of advice for me?  Maybe some one could tell me about either of the CS grad programs (pros/cons) which may help me make my decision.

  • Ditch the girlfriend, go to UVA! Just kidding about the girlfriend part. I have done a lot of interviewing, and I have been very impressed with the folks from UVA CS. Although, Tech is an awesome school, just not sure about the CS program there as I have honestly never met anyone who completed it. Good luck and Congrats!
