Back from Virginia, finally
I spent the last 4 days in Blacksburg Virginia checking out Virginia Tech's campus. I have decided to accept my TA offer from Virginia Tech and attend their CS grad program.
The weekend was pretty good I spent Thursday exploring campus and Blacksburg. I then spent Friday exploring the CS department at an open house I was invited to. I meet with quite a few professors and learned about their research. They seem to have a good program. Saturday I spent apartment hunting with my fiancé whom is also attending Virginia Tech (In case anyone is interested we are getting married in July).
All in all the week in was great until I tried to come home
on Sunday. I went online to do Delta’s online check-in and
I found that my fight was cancelled. Ok so this is where
the fun began. They had rescheduled my flight for 6AM on
Monday. First I had to find a way to the airport now
because I couldn’t get anyone to take me that early (I don’t
blame them) so I got a taxi from Blacksburg to Roanoke at
4AM for $58. I got to the Roanoke airport about 4:45 AM and
then waited to get on my plane at 6AM. Finally I was
boarding the plane and I got my seat and laid my head
against the window prepared to go to sleep. When after
about 15 mins the pilot says that there are technical
difficulties and everyone is the exit the plane. Needless
to say that flight was cancelled as well. I didn’t think I
was ever going to get back to Cincinnati. Finally I got
rerouted through Pittsburg and then to Cincinnati about 12
hours after my originally scheduled time. Then I worked for
after lunch for the rest of the day. It is time for some
sleep now considering I really didn’t get any sleep last
night.
