Brief Update

Sorry for the lack of posts in the last few weeks. I’ve been quite busy with various projects (and family) which have taken up all of my time. Some quick thoughts:

I have received a number of questions related to compilers and IL that I plan on addressing in a post in the next few days.

I have also been working on a secret little project in my spare time which I’ll be able to unveil in the next few weeks. I can’t wait to talk about it but that will have to wait until September. It will probably take the form of a series of articles…

The August CTP of Visual Studio 2005, which I received a few weeks ago, has fixed the compiler bug I mentioned last month. Woohoo!

  • How did you get the August CTP?

  • There’s been some trouble distributing the August CTP through MSDN. I don’t know the details. In the meantime the CTP has been available through the Avalanche beta, which is a P2P file download utility. Unfortunately I don’t believe it’s a public beta at the moment. I’ll see if I can find out.

  • I just checked, but unfortunately Avalanche is not currently available to the public. The latest word is that the August CTP will be on MSDN subscriber downloads within a week or so.
