Get It While It’s Hot! Silverlight 2 Release Candidate Now Available

If you’ve been working with Silverlight 2 Beta 2 you’ll be happy to know that the release candidate was just released.  You can get it at:

http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/sl2rc0.aspx

Scott Guthrie has a detailed post on the new features but here’s a high-level synopsis of what’s new since Beta 2:

  • PasswordBox control added
  • ProgressBar control added
  • ComboBox control added
  • New control templates (they’re much cleaner than the previous ones IMHO)
  • API changes here and there and elimination of some assemblies such as System.Wondows.Controls.Extended

Read a complete list of changes between Beta 2 and the new RC here.

I have a bunch of sample applications created for a new book coming out from WROX called Professional Silverlight 2 for ASP.NET Developers that I’ll be posting soon.  For those who are interested in getting a jump-start on Silverlight development, check out the workshops I’ll be giving at various Dev Connections conferences:
