New Song Released - No Shame in Crying

No More Shame in Crying (mp3)

Written and Performed By: Dan Wahlin
Lyrics: Dan Wahlin
Guitar Contributions:  Spike Xavier, Peter Horan

I'm not exactly sure why I decided to write this song or where the idea came from.  After thinking about it awhile, it's probably at least partially a result of seeing all the people that suffered through tsunamis and hurricanes over the past few years.  News stations showed image after image of people at the end of their rope and I really did feel bad for them.  Especially for those who had to act as if everything was alright for the sake of their children. That would be pretty tough to do when your house, possessions and everything else "material" was destroyed.  I'm not much of a "preachy" type of guy but for those who were re-united with loved ones, disasters such as Katrina show how material things just don't matter in life...even though TV and the media in general would try to convince us otherwise.

I'd like to thank Spike Xavier and Peter Horan for their guitar contributions and my wife Heedy for her honest assessment and input (which I didn't always want to hear even though she was right on with her opinions/suggestions).  This is the second song I've released recently....writing and recording music has sort of dominated my hobbies lately.  You can here the first one titled "Reality" here.

Lyrics:

Verse 1:
The nights are long the days are still
Life's become a fire drill
And you feel
That the pressure never ends
And you know
That you're act is all pretend

Verse 2:
Looking back you wonder why
The dreams you had went slipping by
And you wish
That you could forget mistakes
Embrace
All life has for you to take

Chorus:
When you feel life's let you down
And there's no more point in trying
And you feel life's passed you by
There's no shame in crying
As long as you keep trying

  • Dude- I had NO idea you wrote music!! I think that's way cool and your stuff is really good. You should come to one of my music jams soon ... I have to get another one scheduled but we have loads of fun.

How about lunch with Eddie and me soon? Time for a catch-up?

BTW I lost my address book when my computer crashed (yes, again and this time it was a MAC!) so I figured I'd reach out this way. It's a long story ... But much to my pleasant surprise I learned something new!

Love the blog thing too -- digg it!
