VS 2005 and your graphics card

If you are using VS 2005 consider upgrading your graphics card.

We noticed right a way that the IDE was slow and sluggish using the integrated, on board graphics card that came with our machines.  We updated to a 128MB graphics card and it made a world of difference in speed within the IDE.  The IDE in 2005 is graphics heavy and the new card really helps.

  • I could only see this if you`re running Vista, or you`re running XP with lower than 512 ram.

    most development machines have 1GB to 3GB of ram (that I work on). If you`re running vista, then yea you will need a Graphics card so you can take the strain of Vista off your processor and your ram.

  • With a large project VB 2005 is just appallingly slow - comment out a line and 30 secs later you can do something else!!!!
