[MIX08] Sessions are available online (non Silverlight users banned)

Not everything that happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...

All sessions/keynotes can be viewed/downloaded at http://sessions.visitmix.com/.

Note that this is a good example of a site using way too much Silverlight (you can't even do a copy/paste), but... seems that MS has a new toy to push !
A non Silverlight alternative version would have been appreciated for people (like me) who can't install Silverlight on their company's computer.

[Update] Luciano Evaristo Guerche has a nice MIX08 sessions list with WMV direct links!

[Update] And now a nice Zune Podcast feed!

  • The session videos are great, but...
Where can we get the source code / project files for the demos?

  • I agree; all the sessions are in a one big list. That paging system is just a way of scrolling to the position in the list. Try to go to one of the last pages and everything is blank. Why? Well because all the items have to load until you get there... so you wait and wait. Then I found a nice session and wanted to send the link to a friend... no can do; SL is too fancy for old style links. We get blinded with pyrotechnics and forget the basics -- progress for you.

  • Great insights, Laurent. Silverlight is a powerful and very expressive technology but like all great platforms, it is possible to "abuse" the technology and build really, really bad websites. All web developers and designers need to think carefully about the experience they bring to the web when using Silverlight and as such they hold a responsibility to understand their users when building their web solutions. This means making sure they know if their users can even download and install Silverlight as well as make sure users with Silverlight installed have a great experience on the website, not a convoluted one, just for the sake of making something simple look funky and new. My 2 cents.
