This session was about the future of Orchard. We discussed about the next major version.
The most wanted enhancements are on Data Access, Theming, Caching, Content management and Environment.
The ASP.NET vNext has amazing new features (Roslyn, Performance, Portability).
Speaker: N. Taylor Mullen
Taylor is a developer in the ASP.NET team and is currently working on ASP.NET vNext.
He made some very interesting demos with a new ASP.NET vNext application explaining how to add dependencies, retrieve configuration, specify routing, add controller and view component.
Speaker: Bing Huan Chio – 343 Industries
Bing is in charge of the Halo Waypoint blog (https://blogs.halowaypoint.com) and explained how they use Orchard as a Backend to edit the blog posts and expose theme through a REST API.
Many other people from the Halo team attended this session.
Building an Orchard SaaS - DotNest
Speakers: Benedek Farkas, Zoltan Lehoczky – Lombiq
The results of the Orchard Harvest challenge were announced:
- MiniProfiler by Daniel Dabrowski
- Inline Editing by Matías Molleja
- Dynamic Forms by Cybage Software Pvt. Ltd.
Then, the Lombiq guys made a demo of a template module using the Liquid markup syntax.
They also presented their SAAS solution to host Orchard instances easily : https://dotnest.com/.
