Donation and help the countries affected by Tsunami
A short personal (emotional) expression / story:
- Wonderful birthday - I spent 5 days staying in an island enjoying sunshine and beach somewhere in South East Asia (SEA).
- Horrible Tsunami (I rescheduled my trip from the 4th week to 3th week of Dec, otherwise I can't write this blog entry right now, I'm so lucky and that's why I'm shocked after hearing this news)
- Help all people affected by the Tsunami in SEA (My boss is so kind and he'll donate another $100,000 if the total amount of donation from all employees equals to $100,000 - the donation will be doubled then)
- All of my friends in Asia Pacific are safe.
- Steve Smith back to home safely.
- Passed a XML Web Service exam before the expiration of the MVP exam voucher today.
- Finished a review of a SQL Reporting Services Book and will be posted on ASPAlliance.com shortly.
- My lungs are happy in the last 5 days with the encouragement from Mazen.

Microsoft TechEd China - Beijing
Just back from the Microsoft TechEd China this week, it was a great and fun trip! It's no doubt that the content of the event is good (I visited the site 1 day before the opening and it's just like a mess and I thought whether I go to a wrong place... but the owner can setup everything within just 24 hours anyway), and I've also visited the Great Wall and other famous tourist spots in Beijing with few of my friends. :)There's a plasma in the hotel lobby displaying some advertsement, I took this pic when I back to hotel at about 19:00, but it's actually start loading since 08:00. :S -

Installation Procedures
My team was looking for a document management system and the objective of this project is quite simple and in fact it's small scale and target for about 10-20 end users only. We want to have a document management system, starting from scanning paper documents, indexing, editing, archiving, searching and off site storing only, a distributor came to my company and show us a product by the IMR last week.

TechEd 2004 Sessions
Yes, the TechEd 2004 sessions are available now, as stated by Matt and some other bloggers here. I'm appreciate and glad to see these materials were put online so promptly. I checked out the VB 2005 session by Amanda Silver at first, as I just read an excellent article in this topic last week. However, the quality of this session is so disappointing... Except the PPT, I see nothing especially the Demo sessions (which is critically important for developers, IMO) and I just saw “something” were highlighted in the solution explorer/“something” were moved (drag & drop?) in the designer pane. I know it's free and I do respect the organizer to put these materials online, but it's really hard for me to keep on watching this great stuff!

Concept of ASP.NET Callbacks
Nikhil blog about the concept and design issues of async callbacks in server control, he really did a great work and be sure to check out his little animated slide in explaining callback. The idea of callback is awesome and I'm sure lots of developers have implemented something like this in v1.* nowadays, especially for those have practical experience in using classic ASP and XMLHTTP.

Undesired Code Generation in VS.NET
Like the unwanted feature in Web Matrix, VS.NET will destory any XHTML standard or insert undesire code without our notification. However, we do need and love VS.NET for our development, especially it automatically generate necessary control declaration or event handler when switching from Design View and Code View, that said, you'll switch to Design View(10% time) and then go to Code View (90% time) just because let it to generate necessary declaration code for you.
